I created these cute Elmo thank-you cards for my daughter's second birthday party. She absolutely LOVES Elmo, so I went all-out with a fun Sesame Street theme. I loved making the decorations and party favors, and I'll be sharing tutorials for those soon.

These Elmo cards would also work well as birthday invitations or a fun "just because" greeting card. Once you have all the pieces cut out, they are easy to assemble. If you are making a big batch like I did, I highly recommend cutting everything out first and setting up a little assembly line — it makes the process smoother and faster.

Let's get started!

Setup:

First you will want to cut out all of the pieces. A digital die cutter like a Cricut or Silhouette makes this step quick and precise.

The design download is sized to fit inside a 6" x 6" square envelope (don't forget the extra postage!). I use this size when sending them as regular greeting cards.

When I made these as thank-you cards, I scaled the design down slightly so they would fit nicely into standard A2 envelopes. You might want to do the same if you're using them as thank-yous. It gives you just enough room for a short personal message and keeps the postage costs lower.

No die cutter? No problem! You can print the pattern and use carbon transfer paper to trace the design onto cardstock, and then cut the pieces out by hand with scissors.

Assemble the eyes and nose:

Fold your card base in half:

Attach the face:

Either glue or a permanent tape runner work well for this.

Attach the inner white cardstock:

If you don't have a lot to write in your card, just use one piece of white cardstock.
